One dead and one injured in traffic accident in East Dallas, police said

Investigators found that the traffic light at the intersection was not working when the accident occurred.

DALLAS – A driver died in a collision with a tow truck in Dallas Friday afternoon, police said.

Dallas police responded to a multi-vehicle crash around 2:30 p.m. at North Buckner Boulevard and Chenault Street.

The driver was traveling east on Chenault Street and attempted to turn left onto N. Buckner Boulevard when a tow truck traveling south on Buckner Street struck the driver’s side, police said. The force of the impact caused the driver to collide with another vehicle, officials said.

Investigators determined that the traffic light at the intersection was not working when the accident occurred, police told WFAA.

Dallas Fire-Rescue was also on scene and declared the driver of the accident vehicle dead. The passenger was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The identity of the victim was not immediately disclosed.

The tow truck driver, 36-year-old Jonathan Davis, was treated at the scene, officials say. No other injuries were reported.

Davis was arrested on a warrant, but police said no charges have been filed in the accident.

The investigation is ongoing.

This is a developing story. WFAA will provide updates as more information becomes available.
