20-year-old killed while trimming a tree in Arlington

According to Arlington police, Carl David Blaylock was using a chainsaw when he hit a power line and was electrocuted Saturday afternoon.

ARLINGTON, Texas – A 20-year-old man died while doing tree work after hitting a power line, Arlington police said.

According to police, he was using a chainsaw when he hit a power line, causing him to receive an electric shock.

According to a GoFundMe campaign set up for Carl David Blaylock III, known by the nickname “Tray,” he was helping his uncle trim a tree in Arlington when his uncle died.

Arlington police responded to the reported death on May 25 at approximately 1:25 p.m. Blaylock died in a tree in the 4600 block of Kelly Elliott Road, according to the Tarrant County Coroner’s Office. The coroner’s office has not confirmed his official cause of death.

Tray’s father, also named Carl David Blaylock, said his son’s life could have been prevented.

“I got a call and I just thought, ‘This is impossible,'” Blaylock said. “I prayed to God that this isn’t true. Then I got there and all I saw was my son’s right foot hanging in a tree.”

Tray, a graduate of Timber Creek High School in Keller, was the first in his father’s family to graduate from high school.

“He was a good kid,” Blaylock said.

His sister Jasmine Blaylock described him as a hard worker who often took on additional jobs to provide for his family. According to his family, Tray and his fiancée are expecting a daughter.

“He was very caring and loved everyone,” Jasmine said. “He was trying to get his house ready and buy baby clothes.”

Tray’s family has started a GoFundMe campaign to cover his funeral expenses and set up a trust fund for his unborn child.

His father hopes that the story of Tray’s fate will raise awareness of the dangers of power lines.

Arlington police said no foul play or crime was suspected in Tray’s death.
