ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey (WPVI) – Two women were arrested on Sunday for allegedly shooting an 11-year-old boy in Atlantic City, New Jersey, over Memorial Day weekend.
It happened on Saturday just before 10:30 p.m. in the 100 block of North Rhode Island Avenue.
Officers were called to the scene because a juvenile had been shot. Upon arrival, police found an 11-year-old boy with a gunshot wound.
The boy was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
During their investigation, authorities identified 22-year-old Yanirah Davis and 33-year-old Yontay Cooper as suspects in the shooting.
According to police, the two women came out onto the street with a hammer and a pistol and encountered a group with whom they had previously had an argument.
They allegedly began smashing the window of a vehicle with the hammer and then began shooting at the group.
One of the shots hit a residential building, police said, and the eleven-year-old was hit.
On Sunday, Davis and Cooper were arrested for their alleged roles in the shooting.
Both women are accused of ten counts of aggravated assault, illegal possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an illegal purpose, endangering the welfare of a child and conspiracy.
