Tina Knowles supports Kelly Rowland after incident at Cannes Film Festival

Kelly Rowland may not be Tina Knowles’ biological daughter, but she will always be her girl.

Beyoncé’s mother took to Instagram on Thursday to show her solidarity with Rowland after the former Destiny’s Child member made headlines for verbally abusing a security guard at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.

“And just like that, @kellyrowland graces another carpet with her incredible, glorious beauty, class and grace!!!! Sipping champagne and living her best life❤️❤️❤️❤️,” Knowles, 70, captioned a video of the singer posing for photos outside the amfAR Gala in Cannes.

“This just goes to show that stupid monkey won’t stop not showing up!!! On to bigger and better things ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹🌹🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.”

Knowles made sure to tag Evan Ross and Joe Jonas, with whom Rowland interacted in the clip.

While walking the same red carpet, Rowland, 43, spoke about the incident, which occurred on Tuesday before the premiere of “Marcello Mio.”

“This woman knows what happened. I know what happened. I have boundaries and I stand by those boundaries,” the singer told AP News.

“There were other women on that carpet who didn’t look quite like me, and they weren’t insulted or pushed down or told to get off,” she added. “I stood my ground, and she felt like she had to make her point. But I stood my ground.”

The altercation in question occurred as Rowland was walking up a flight of stairs and a security guard behind the star held up her arm, seemingly leading her away from the crowd and into the venue.

The woman, wearing a black pantsuit, also seemed to say something.

Whatever happened, Rowland didn’t like it and he immediately turned to the employee.

The musician frowned as she held up her left index finger and admonished the woman in front of everyone.

The woman looked exhausted as she answered.

A lip reader told Page Six that the argument started innocently when the security guard accidentally stepped on Rowland’s dress.

We’re told the Grammy winner initially responded to the woman with “Don’t worry,” but her mood quickly changed.

“Don’t talk to me like that. Don’t talk to me like that,” Rowland repeated, according to our expert. “You’re not my mother. I told you not to talk to me like that.”

It is unclear what the employee said to make the singer so angry, as she had her back turned to the camera.

“This woman knows what happened. I know what happened. I have boundaries and I stand by those boundaries,” the singer said after the argument.

When she reached the top of the stairs, Rowland, we are told, turned around, still angry, and shouted, “You still don’t talk to me like that.”

Meanwhile, a source told the Daily Mail that the woman was the one who “hurled abuse at Kelly and told her to go away as she tried to wave to fans and help the paparazzi take her photo.”

The insider added that the singer wanted to “set a clear boundary” with the security guard.

“She doesn’t care if she comes across as a diva as long as she knows she’s standing up for herself,” the source explained. “She’s not fake.”
