One-year-old Michigan child suffers cuts and bites to face after being attacked by family dogs

(CBS DETROIT) — A 1-year-old Michigan child is in critical condition after being attacked by two of the family’s dogs Wednesday evening, police said.

Around 9 p.m., Wixom officers responded to a home in the area of ​​Nissen Court and W. Maple Road after the homeowner called to report the attack.

According to police, the family’s two pit bulls attacked the homeowner and his one-year-old grandchild.

When officers arrived, they discovered that the 1-year-old had bites on his face, forehead, lower back and leg, as well as multiple lacerations from the attack.

The child was taken to a local hospital and then transferred to the University of Michigan CS Mott Children’s Hospital, where he is in critical condition awaiting surgery.

According to police, the homeowner’s injuries were treated at the scene and he refused to be taken to the hospital.

Wixom police and Oakland County Animal Control are investigating the incident.
