Suspect arrested for horrific rape of woman who was lassoed around the neck on a New York street

The man arrested in the horrific attack caught on camera in which a woman was belted from behind, dragged unconscious and raped acted with uncanny precision, according to a police source.

“I definitely think he’s done this before,” said a Bronx detective who asked to remain anonymous because he was not authorized to speak to the news media. “It was too clean. They usually make big mistakes the first time. That wasn’t a mistake. This guy was precise.”

Kashaan Parks was arrested Saturday and accused of coming up behind the victim, then throwing a belt around her neck and pulling her to the ground, causing her to “lose consciousness” around 3 a.m. on May 1, the Police with.

“There are probably more victims out there, but what happens is they pass out and don’t remember anything,” the detective said. “How do you get the belt around your neck so perfectly?”

Parks, 39, was charged with first-degree rape, assault, strangulation, sexual abuse, public indecency and harassment, police said.

He kept his head bowed and wore a white Tyvek suit as he was escorted to a car by two Special Victims Unit investigators and taken to criminal court in the Bronx. He did not answer questions from reporters about the crime.

The victim was taken to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition.

Police say at some point the victim stopped cooperating with authorities.
