Police identify pedestrian killed in collision in Silver Spring

Montgomery County Police have identified a 30-year-old man as the pedestrian fatally struck by a car in Silver Spring Saturday night.

Aman Abraham Gebreyesus of Silver Spring was struck by a blue 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee as he crossed the eastbound lanes of University Boulevard East at the intersection with Langley Drive, police said in a statement Tuesday.

Montgomery County Fire and Emergency Services officers and crews responded to a report of a collision at the intersection shortly before 9 p.m., the statement said.

Gebreyesus was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, police said. The Jeep driver, whose identity remained unknown, remained at the scene of the accident.

Criminal Investigation Department asks anyone who may have witnessed the collision to call 240-773-6620.
