JD Vance is criticized for his “strange” reaction to white racist attacks on his wife Usha

Donald Trump’s vice presidential candidate JD Vance is being questioned by critics over his response to white racist verbal attacks on his wife Usha.

In a recent interview with Megyn Kelly on her SiriusXM show, Senator JD Vance spoke about racist attacks against his wife Usha Vance because of her Indian heritage. While Vance acknowledged the attacks, he did not explicitly condemn them. Instead, he expressed his deep love and admiration for his wife, saying, “Look, I love my wife so much. I love her for who she is.”

“Obviously she’s not white and we’ve been accused – attacked – by some white supremacists because of that,” Vance said. He then turned his attention to his wife’s qualities, emphasizing: “But I just love Usha. She’s such a good mother, she’s such a brilliant lawyer and I’m so proud of her.”

The Ohio senator, who came under fire in 2021 for attacking “childless” Democrats in a comment he later described as “sarcastic,” also mentioned that his wife’s experiences had given him insight into the challenges facing working families in America.

However, Vance’s response to the white supremacists’ attacks was criticized by several people on social media. Kaivan Shroff, a Democratic commentator, shared the clip from Vance’s interview and described his defense as “such a weird” and “pathetic” way to respond to the attacks against his wife. “Honestly, this is such a weird way to respond to the white supremacists’ attacks on his Indian-American wife. Pathetic,” Shroff said.
Another user expressed confusion, asking, “Why… would he say that?” while wondering if it was an old interview. “Who is prepping this guy for the media,” a doctor commented on Kaivan Shrooff’s post criticizing Vance. Many others also criticized Vance, criticizing the vice presidential candidate for not making a more forceful statement defending his wife.

This came after Nick Fuentes attacked Vance while denouncing his wife’s Native American heritage. “JD Vance also has an Indian wife and a child named Vivek. All of his children have Native American names – so it’s like, we know exactly what we’re getting here. And this isn’t a dig at him just because I’m a racist or anything. But who is this guy really? Do we really expect that the guy who has an Indian wife and named their child Vivek is going to support white identity?” Fuentes said after Trump announced Vance as his running mate.
