Pedestrian killed by drunk driver on I-10

SULPHUR, Louisiana (KPLC) – A Lake Charles man was killed Saturday night while attempting to cross I-10 in Sulphur, according to state police.

On Saturday around 9 p.m., Troop D of the Louisiana State Police (LSP) began investigating a car crash that left 31-year-old Daniel Courville dead.

Courville was attempting to cross I-10 West east of Fabacher Road after his vehicle entered the median. At the same time, 45-year-old Juan Camacho of Texas was traveling west on I-10 when, for unknown reasons, his truck struck Courville as he was crossing the road.

Courville suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Camacho was uninjured in the accident.

Camacho was found to be impaired at the time of the accident. He was arrested and charged with drunk driving.

The crash remains under investigation.
