Georgia wide receiver Rara Thomas has been suspended indefinitely from the team after being arrested on child abuse and two counts of assault Friday morning, according to 247Sports. Thomas was arrested at 3:20 a.m., according to Athens-Clarke County Jail records.

This is Thomas’ second arrest on similar charges. He was arrested in January 2023 on false imprisonment and domestic violence charges. The charges were later dropped as part of a settlement between prosecutors and Thomas’s attorney.

Thomas, a four-star prospect in the 2023 transfer portal, transferred to Georgia after two years at Mississippi State. In his first season with the program, he played in 11 games and recorded 23 catches for 383 yards and a touchdown.

Despite the increased depth at the wide receiver position, Thomas was expected to be a key player in the Bulldogs’ offense in 2024. After spring practice, he was listed as one of the outside receiver positions in 247Sports’ two-deep projections for Georgia – just behind Miami transfer Colbie Young.

Thomas, a former three-star prospect from Eufaula, Alabama, had 62 catches for 878 yards and 12 touchdowns in two seasons at Mississippi State before transferring to Georgia.
