Dothan teen arrested after drive-by shooting in Blakely, police say | WDHN

BLAKELY, GA (WDHN) — A Dothan teenager is behind bars in southwest Georgia after being identified as a suspect in a drive-by shooting, according to police.

According to Blakely Police, 17-year-old Joseph Pelland was arrested on Friday, July 19, after investigators say he fired shots at an occupied home on Palmetto Avenue on Wednesday, July 17.

Police said Pelland was declared a suspect after eyewitness reports, surveillance cameras and a license plate reader identified his car as a suspect in the shooting.

Although Pelland is a minor, Blakely Police Chief Will Caudill tells WDHN that in Georgia, anyone 17 or older is automatically charged as an adult.

Pelland is charged with aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit a crime, possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime and discharging a weapon near a roadway. He is being held in the Early County Jail pending his first appearance.

A BPD press release said the investigation into the shooting is ongoing and more arrests are expected.

Chief Caudill would like to thank the Dothan Police Department for their assistance in this case.
