Moatsville man arrested after attacking woman while fleeing police

MOATSVILLE, W.Va (WDTV) – A Moatsville man was arrested after police say he attacked a woman and fled from police on Saturday.

Christopher Wagner, 33, is accused of grabbing a woman by the neck and throwing her to the ground in a rocky area in Arden, according to the Barbour County Sheriff’s Department.

Officers were responding to a domestic incident in Arden. When they arrived at the scene, they saw Wagner throw the woman to the ground, court documents say. When officers told Wagner to stop, he started running.

Officers chased Wagner and deployed a Taser, which they used to subdue him, court documents say. After Wagner said he was under arrest, he began kicking and punching officers, officials said.

Two officers suffered minor injuries and Wagner refused emergency medical assistance, court documents say.

Wagner is charged with strangulation, fleeing on foot, two counts of assault on an officer, obstructing an officer and domestic violence and is currently being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail with bail set at $65,000.
