Incident of road rage in the USA: Newly married man of Indian descent shot in front of his wife in Indiana

A 29-year-old Indian-origin man was shot dead in front of his wife in Indiana after he was allegedly killed over a road rage incident. The suspected shooter was released after a lengthy detention after it appeared he acted in self-defense. The victim was reportedly carrying a handgun when he confronted the driver of a pickup truck.

According to police and media reports cited by News 18, the incident occurred as Gavin Dasaur was walking home with his Mexican wife. Amanda Hibschman, an officer with the Indianapolis Police Department (IMPD), said they responded to the incident at an intersection in southeast Indianapolis after 8 p.m. on July 16.

Officials said they found a man lying in the middle of the street with a gunshot wound. “I held him as he bled to death and waited for the ambulance,” the victim’s widow, Viviana ZaMora, told the Indianapolis Star.

A cellphone video taken by another driver at the scene shows Dasaur getting out of his car at the intersection, appearing angry and shouting at the driver of a pickup truck.

He is seen holding a gun in his hand. As he raises his arm to the window of the truck, the passenger fires three shots at him. Dasaur immediately falls to the ground.

Dasaur, who hails from Agra in Uttar Pradesh, married Viviana ZaMora on June 29. Locals reported to police that the incident occurred due to aggressive driving by the Chevy driver and Dasaur.
