Two men have been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of multiple rapes and sexual assaults against two women who were on an evening out in Leeds.

Ibrahima Krubally, 21, of Gledhow Road, was sentenced to 12 years in prison at Leeds Crown Court on Friday for three counts of rape and one count of sexual assault by penetration.

And 24-year-old Ibrahim Kone, of Moor Crescent Chase, received an eight-year prison sentence after being convicted of rape.

Detective Constable Samantha Wilson said the pair had caused “significant harm” to the victims.

“I would like to thank the victims in this case who showed so much bravery in coming forward and who have been commended for their bravery in giving evidence in court against both defendants,” added Ms Wilson, from the Leeds District CID team leading the investigation.

During the trial, the court heard that the attacks took place in the early hours of Saturday 3 July 2021 on two female victims who were on an evening out in Leeds as part of a visit to West Yorkshire.

Kone spotted her outside a fast food restaurant, approached her and then invited her to a house party.

The women went to a house in the Harehills area and met Kone and Krubally.

Both victims were subsequently sexually abused.

Detective Inspector Richard James of Leeds District CID said it had been a “long and complex investigation that began in 2021” as Krubally had to be extradited from Germany after a warrant was issued for his arrest for failing to appear at a previous court hearing.

Mr James said: “Unfortunately, the victims’ wait for justice was prolonged by Krubally leaving the country during the trial.

“I hope this case demonstrates that we will work with our partners internationally to ensure that dangerous criminals cannot evade prosecution by fleeing abroad.

“I also hope that their convictions and the prison sentences to which they have now been sentenced will provide some closure to their victims and a sense of reassurance to society.”
