2 drivers killed in separate accidents on western Massachusetts roads

Two people were killed in separate crashes on western Massachusetts roads Thursday, according to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office. At 10 p.m., a 17-year-old from Westfield was killed in a one-vehicle crash on Southampton Road in Westhampton. The teen, who was the only person in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash occurred about an hour after a 62-year-old Springfield man was killed in a crash in Northampton. Just before 9 p.m., police responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Damon Road and King Street in Northampton. The man, who was the only person in the vehicle, was taken to Cooley Dickinson Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Officials said the man’s death may have been the result of a medical incident. No charges have been filed. Both crashes remain under investigation. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the causes of death in both crashes.
