Man dies in bulldozer accident in Traphill

On Wednesday, July 17, a man died in a bulldozer accident during construction work on a golf course in Traphill.

In a statement to The Wilkes RecordMajor Logan Kerr of the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported at 9:23 a.m. at 1365 Piney Grove Church Road.

The report, he added, was related to “an accidental death investigation. After gathering information and meeting with emergency personnel on scene, it was learned that Michael Earl Ufken, age 70, of Monroe, Wisconsin, was fatally injured in a bulldozer accident. Ufken was a bulldozer operator and was employed by Landscaping Unlimited to assist in the construction of a golf club in the area. The investigation is currently ongoing.”
