Missing Connecticut man found dead in wooded area in New Canaan

A missing Stamford man was found dead in a wooded area in New Canaan early Tuesday.

The man, whose identity has not been publicly released, was last seen Monday afternoon working on a home being renovated in New Canaan, according to Lt. Marc J. DeFelice of the New Canaan Police Department.

Authorities with the Stamford Police Department reached out to New Canaan police late Monday night to assist in the missing person report investigation based on the man’s last known whereabouts, DeFelice said.

Shortly after midnight Tuesday, authorities found the missing man in a specific wooded area, DeFelice said. A paramedic at Norwalk Hospital pronounced him dead at the scene.

Connecticut State Police are assisting New Canaan investigators with the investigation. DeFelice said the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has also been notified.

DeFelice said authorities would not release the man’s identity, adding that police believe there is “no danger to the public.”
