Shooting involving off-duty police officer in Elgin under investigation

Authorities in Kane County are investigating a shooting in Elgin involving an off-duty officer.

The officer has not yet been identified but is not an Elgin police officer, according to a news release from Kane County Prosecutor Jamie Mosser.

Authorities said the shooting occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Walnut Avenue and National Street.

The investigation is being led by the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force.

The intersection is currently closed to traffic while investigators are on site to investigate the incident.

There is no information about any injuries.
