One dead in shooting in Berkeley

(KRON) — One person was killed in a shooting in Berkeley on Wednesday, Berkeley police said.

Police responded to the 2900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way at 7:24 p.m. Wednesday for a reported shooting. Officers found one victim who died at the scene.


Police have not identified any suspects yet. The BPD is investigating the shooting.

Police have closed Martin Luther King Jr. Way between Ashby Avenue and Russell Street to vehicles and pedestrians while officers investigate. There is no timetable for the road to reopen.

The address of the shooting is near Grove Park and the Ashby BART station in South Berkeley.
