Investigation underway after physical altercation between Cedar Grove police chief and suspect – WCHS Network | News • Sports • Business

Shrewsbury, West Virginia. – An investigation is ongoing after a physical altercation between a man and Cedar Grove Police Chief Jack Ice on Monday.

Kanawha County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched around 2:30 a.m. when Ice requested backup after using force against a man in the parking lot of Capitol Recycling in Shrewsbury.

The man was apparently riding his bike in the parking lot when Ice stopped him. The argument escalated into a physical altercation, after which Ice called the police for help.

By the time Kanawha County Sheriff’s officers arrived, the man had already been arrested after Ice received assistance from several surrounding police departments.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the reason for the stop conducted by Ice and the allegations of excessive use of force.

No arrests were made and no charges were filed against Ice or the suspect.
