Victim identified after hit-and-run accident in Smithfield, officers search for suspect

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating a tractor-trailer that allegedly struck and killed a woman on Pleasant View Avenue in Smithfield last night.

According to police, the woman was riding her bicycle when she was killed.

When officers arrived at around 9:37 p.m., they found that a cyclist had been struck while traveling southbound.

On site, police learned that the cyclist, 25-year-old Aliana Ciarcciarelli, had fallen and been hit by a semi-trailer truck.

Police said they are looking for a light-colored day cab and tractor-trailer combination that was seen in the area at the time of the collision.
