Driver killed in crash with patrol car in Apple Valley identified as Daniel Stuardo Perez – VVNG.com

APPLE VALLEY, California (VVNG.com) — The driver who died in a crash involving a sheriff’s patrol car in the town of Apple Valley has been identified as a 29-year-old Daniel Stuart Perez.

On Saturday, June 29, 2024, at approximately 4:02 p.m., an Apple Valley Police Department officer with his lights and sirens activated was involved in an accident on Bear Valley Road while responding to a 911 call, officials said.

According to a written statement, the incident occurred when the driver of a Toyota Corolla, traveling east on Bear Valley Road near Kiowa Road, attempted to turn left into a parking lot and collided with the patrol car.

The male driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputy suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His name has not been released publicly.

During the investigation, Bear Valley Road between Kiowa Road and Snapping Turtle was closed for several hours.
