A risk of severe weather threatens with storms on Monday and Tuesday

OMAHA, Nebraska (WOWT) – We’re having a great time ending the rest of our Sunday evening, enjoy it! The work week starts with several waves of storms.

Monday and Tuesday are six days of early weather warnings as there is a risk of storms and severe weather moving through the area. Multiple waves of storms and severe weather are also possible.

The first round is expected to arrive on Monday morning. The timing is very close to the morning drive with heavy rain and low risk. This round could affect the commute!

It will dry out around midday, and the atmosphere will then recharge throughout the rest of the day, leading to an evening round of storms that will attempt to develop and move in from the west.

The evening round would bring the highest severe weather risk of the day… all forms of severe weather are possible. The best chances are initially in the northwest quadrant of our observation area, with chances continuing overnight and shifting eastward as the storms attempt to hold together. All forms of severe weather are possible, most notably the risk of hail up to 2 inches and damaging wind gusts. There is also a risk of a few tornadoes, but the greatest danger is to the west.

The extreme weather will ease around 3 a.m., after which isolated showers and weaker thunderstorms are still possible until Tuesday morning.

Another round of severe storms is also possible on Tuesday afternoon and evening, with the greatest danger coming from a cold front slowly moving southeast through the area. The timing of this round and where the front will begin are still somewhat uncertain, but it will probably happen after 2 p.m. and the area will have cleared by 10 p.m. Once again, all forms of severe weather are possible.

Heavy rain can cause flash flooding with each round. The stormy pattern will continue through July 4. Isolated thunderstorms are possible most of Tuesday, but try to get out of the area in time for the evening fireworks.
