British woman found crying in her underwear on the streets of Paris ‘after being raped by several men at a music festival’

  • The victim was found crying and holding underwear in central Paris early Saturday
  • Comes as teenage girl was injected with an unknown substance at another location

It has been revealed that a British woman was allegedly gang raped and then robbed on the streets of Paris on Friday evening after attending a festival in the French capital.

According to a police source, the tourist was found crying in the early hours of Saturday morning as she stumbled through the streets of Paris’ 1st arrondissement.

She clutched her underwear in a state of great despair, hours after leaving a concert at the Olympiahalle – one of hundreds of events taking place across France on June 21 to mark the “Fête de la Musique” – in English “Make Music Day”.

The victim, who was picked up by the fire brigade and taken to Cochin Hospital for a medical examination, later told police, according to Le Figaro, that she was attacked by several men and dragged to a remote area where she was raped and her phone was stolen.

Investigators from the 1st Paris Criminal Police District are currently investigating the incident but have not yet identified a suspect.

The shocking rape occurred after five teenagers were injected with an unknown substance while attending another Make Music Day event in the Paris suburb of Saint-Maur-des-Fossés.

The girls, aged 13 to 17, told aid workers at the event that they were dancing in the crowd when they felt stinging pains in their arms.

Each of them quickly developed symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, headaches and fever, witnesses on site told Le Parisien.

Three of the girls reportedly had marks on their left arms that suggested they had been pierced with a needle.

However, the police were unable to make any arrests, although around 10,000 people attended the event in the Paris suburb.

Two men were stopped and searched by officers, but were later released after police could not find any paraphernalia or other evidence linking them to the attack.

The mayor of Saint-Maur, Sylvain Berrios, who also attended the festival, admitted to Le Parisien that such incidents represent an “extremely painful phenomenon” that is “difficult to stop”.

Berrios said security measures at the site had been significantly increased and authorities had installed several surveillance cameras to enable live transmission of security data to the city police monitoring center, which he hoped would help investigators search for suspects.

Celebrated every year on June 21 since 1982, Make Music Day in France brings together musicians and artists from around the world to perform at hundreds of concerts and events across the country.

In addition to concerts with world-famous artists, amateur musicians are encouraged to take to the streets and public squares and give spontaneous concerts.
