Victims of Fordyce mass murder identified

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – The three victims of a mass shooting outside the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce have been identified.

On Friday, the first victim of the shooting, in which 10 people were also injured, was identified as Callie Weemsa 23-year-old nurse at Dallas County Medical Center who left behind a 10-month-old daughter.


Another victim of the shooting was identified as a 63-year-old Shirley Kay Taylor.

In an article on FacebookTaylor’s daughter remembered her mother and mentioned that she had not taken out funeral insurance or any other precautionary measures. She announced that she would set up a donation account to help her mother find peace.

On Saturday, a third victim of the shooting was identified as a 50-year-old Roy Sturgis from Kingsland.

Following the tragic shooting, the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce announced that it would remain closed pending an investigation, and Fordyce police called the shooting “the worst day in the history of Fordyce, Arkansas.”
