Man killed, 2 injured in shooting at home near north side of Carrollton Avenue – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana Traffic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – One man died and two others were injured in a shooting that Indianapolis police believe broke out early Saturday morning after a gathering at a home on the near north side.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 2600 block of Carrollton Avenue around 3:30 a.m. for a report of someone being shot.

When police arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound inside a home. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition but was expected to survive, police said. Once inside the home, officers saw an armed man attempt to run into the house, but were quickly able to arrest him.

Shortly afterwards, police were called to the area around North College Avenue and Fall Creek Parkway because another person had been shot there. There they found another man with a gunshot wound. His condition is said to be stable.

Police subsequently found a third man with a gunshot wound in a yard between two homes in the 2600 block of Carrollton Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe that a gathering took place at the house before the shootings and that the house was only rented for a short time.

Police are still investigating what led to the shooting, interviewing witnesses and trying to determine if the arrested suspect is connected to the shooting.

Anyone living in the area who may have surveillance footage of the shooting, or anyone else with information, is asked to contact Det. Michael Wright with IMPD’s Homicide Unit at 317-327-3475 or via email at [email protected].
