Eight counties involved in investigation leading to arrest for cattle theft

Emmetsburg, Iowa – A Pocahontas man has been charged with cattle theft and a number of other crimes following an investigation involving law enforcement in eight northwest Iowa counties.

Corey Edward Goeders, 26, was arrested on Friday and released on bail. According to the Palo Alto County Sheriff, investigators linked Goeders to cattle thefts that occurred primarily between June of last year and February of this year. Goeders faces 20 charges. He is accused of money laundering, tax evasion and continuing criminal conduct, as well as theft.

The cases against Goeders involved sheriff’s departments from Palo Alto, Kossuth, Buena Vista, Calhoun, Clay, Pocahontas, Webster and Woodbury counties, as well as agents from the Iowa Department of Public Safety and the Iowa Department of Revenue.
