Police: Fatal Amazon car theft in one of many robberies in Cleveland

Cleveland police have identified five juvenile suspects between the ages of 12 and 17 in the May 4 robberies, including the 17-year-old who was fatally shot.

CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Division of Police says it continues to investigate several related incidents of violent crime that occurred Saturday, including the fatal shooting of a teenage suspect who allegedly attempted to rob an Amazon driver.

In a news release sent Wednesday, police detailed the timeline of a series of carjackings and aggravated robberies that occurred within about 90 minutes Saturday afternoon.

Five teenage suspects between the ages of 12 and 17 were identified, including the 17-year-old who was fatally shot. Two suspects were arrested.

The timeline

1. According to police, a victim was robbed at gunpoint on the 1300 block of Old River Road just after 2:25 p.m.

2. The suspects then allegedly fled in the victim’s vehicle and drove to the area of ​​West 88th and Denison Avenue, where they robbed a person at gunpoint and stole their I-Pad.

3. At approximately 3:00 p.m., investigators reported that the same vehicle drove to West 73r and Colgate, robbing a person of their iPhone.

4. The suspects then allegedly drove to West 130th and Brookpark Road and carjacked another vehicle at gunpoint.

5. At around 4 p.m., the two stolen vehicles containing the suspects arrived at 48th Street and Franklin, according to police. The suspects are said to have stolen an Amazon delivery vehicle.

According to police, in that incident, a 17-year-old suspect “drove away in the victim’s vehicle and multiple shots were fired, resulting in the suspect’s death.”

According to the Cleveland Division of Police, the investigation is “active and ongoing.”
