State police looking for suspect in connection with Kewanee homicide investigation – Shaw Local

A suspect has been identified in the Kewanee homicide investigation and Illinois State Police are attempting to locate the man.

After a thorough investigation, authorities identified James Reed III, 26, of Kewanee, as a suspect. The Illinois State Police Criminal Investigation Division, Zone 2, and the Henry Mercer County Investigative Group are requesting assistance in locating Reed.

Kewanee police responded to a welfare check in the 800 block of West Division Street on June 8. Upon arrival, officers discovered a dead man who was unresponsive. Kewanee police requested State Police officers on June 11 to assist in the investigation of a homicide.

Police warned the public not to approach Reed.
