Seven people arrested after fight at Narragansett ferry dock

NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) — Narragansett police said they arrested seven people, including a juvenile, following a large brawl in front of the Block Island Ferry Docks Saturday night.

According to a press release from Narragansett Police Chief Sean Corrigan, police were called to 304 Great Island Road around 8:15 p.m. Saturday because “between 20 and 30 people were actively involved in a fight.”


The first officer to arrive on the scene immediately called for backup. When they arrived, the other officers witnessed a large group of people fighting with each other.

When police attempted to take people into custody, several people “began to intervene and were warned to step back or they would be arrested for obstruction.”

Police arrested seven people at the scene and two were taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment of injuries sustained in the brawl.

Those arrested include the following

Maneul Pina, 42, of Brockton, Mass., charged with:

  • Serious bodily harm
  • Resisting arrest
  • Obstructing an official in the performance of his duty
  • Improper conduct

Gilda Antunes, 28, of Brockton, Mass., charged with:

  • Obstructing an official in the performance of his duty

Elsa Lopes, 31, of Brockton, Mass., charged with:

  • Simple attack
  • Resisting arrest
  • Obstructing an official in the performance of his duty
  • Improper conduct

Henry Lopes Jr., 32, Providence, charged with:

Victor Manuel Gomes Depina, 39, of Brockton, Mass., charged with:

  • Obstructing an official in the performance of his duty
  • Improper conduct

Michael Gomes Lopes, 36, of Brockton, Mass., charged with:

  • Resisting arrest
  • Improper conduct

A 16-year-old unidentified youth was charged with:

  • Simple attack
  • Improper conduct

12 News has reached out to Block Island Ferry for comment but has not yet received a response.

All suspects are expected to be arraigned in 4th Division District Court on Monday.
