Due to an accident, all lanes on I-26 East near Chapin are closed

CHAPIN, SC (WIS) – The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) reported an accident Friday afternoon that brought traffic on I-26 East to a near standstill.

SCDOT cameras show that an accident occurred on the highway near mile marker 89. All lanes have been closed while authorities arrive at the scene.

The circumstances of the accident are currently unknown and it is unclear when the accident scene will be cleared.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.
