Two people were arrested after police rescued babies from a hot car in Louisiana

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Shreveport police officers rescued two young children from a dangerously hot car.

According to police, officers rescued an 8-month-old and a 2-year-old from a “sweltering” car parked outside a grocery store on North Market Street. The officers forcibly gained entry to the vehicle, which triggered the alarm and ordered the owners to return.

According to police, the interior of the car reached 116 degrees in just 30 minutes.

The owners, 57-year-old Jacqueline Williams and 25-year-old Elizabeth Williams, were immediately taken into custody.

The children were treated by the Shreveport Fire Department and paramedics and taken to a nearby hospital. Both are expected to make a full recovery.

The women are now facing charges of child absconding in two cases. Additionally, Elizabeth Williams is charged with resisting an officer for lying to officers about her name.
