Man shot on busy Pittsburgh street

PITTSBURGH, PA – Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man Sunday in the Uptown neighborhood near UPMC Mercy hospital.

At around 11:15 a.m., police responded to a ShotSpotter alert for three gunshots near Fifth Avenue and Vine Street.

Officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest. Paramedics took him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The man’s name and age were not initially known.

One man remained at the scene and was taken in for questioning, but police said there were no other suspects in the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
