Stoneham Police Arrest Armed, Barricaded Assailant – NBC Boston

On Saturday afternoon, police were able to safely arrest an armed man who had barricaded himself in a nearby house.

Stoneham police said they were called to a home on Broadway around 11 a.m. for a mental health emergency call. A man had barricaded himself inside the home and was armed with a knife. Officers who responded to the call controlled the situation and made sure there was no danger to the surrounding neighborhood.

The Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council SWAT team also arrived at the scene with its specialized negotiation team.

SWAT team members were able to de-escalate the situation and the man was arrested without further incident at around 12:45 p.m. He was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
