Sex offender charged with sexually abusing a mother and stalking two teens while exposing himself – New Santa Ana

Moises Hernandez

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A 30-year-old registered sex offender has been charged with sexually assaulting a mother as she walked with her 5-year-old daughter and baby near a Santa Ana market, an hour after he attacked two teenagers with his male member suspended after the OCDA.

Moises Hernandez30, of Costa Mesa was charged with one count of aggravated sexual penetration by force, one count of aggravated indecent act upon a child, two counts of exhibitionism, one count of misdemeanor assault and one count of misdemeanor resisting an officer.

If convicted on all counts, Hernandez faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in state prison.

On June 4, 2024, two 15-year-old girls were walking in Santa Ana when a man, later identified as Hernandez, stopped his bicycle and approached them with his penis sticking out of his pants. The girls ran away, but Hernandez chased them and eventually tried to stop the girls from running away by standing in the doorway of a nearby apartment building. He groped one of the girls as she ran away from him.

About an hour later, Hernandez assaulted a 36-year-old woman who was walking with her 5-year-old daughter and stroller near Bristol Street and McFadden Avenue. He is also accused of grabbing the 5-year-old girl by the neck. Hernandez rode away on his bicycle but was later arrested by Santa Ana police.

Hernandez has been convicted twice of public nuisance and sexual abuse. He is a registered sex offender.

“Sex offenders will never stop exploiting defenseless victims for their own perverse pleasures until they are arrested,” said Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer. “No mother should have to fear being sexually assaulted in front of her young children while walking down the street in broad daylight, and teenage girls should not have to run from a registered sex offender who exposes his male genitalia while stalking them. Fortunately, Santa Ana Police were able to quickly identify and arrest this offender, getting him off our streets.”

Assistant District Attorney Austin Neiman of the Sexual Assault Unit is prosecuting this case.
