Shooting at Chase Bank in Florida: 3 dead, including a child

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – A woman and child were killed in a drive-by shooting outside a Florida bank early Friday morning, police said.

NBC affiliate WTVJ reported that the shooting took place at a Chase Bank on the corner of Bird Avenue and 152nd Avenue in Miami-Dade County.

According to WTVJ, Miami-Dade Detective Luis Sierra said a sergeant heard the shooting while traveling in the area and found three bodies at the scene.

According to authorities, a woman was standing in a minivan at the bank’s ATM when a man in an SUV pulled up next to her and fired shots at her vehicle, killing her and a child who was also in the minivan.

After killing the two victims, the gunman shot himself, Sierra said.

The identities of the victims and the suspect are currently unknown, but police said the child’s body was found in a car seat, suggesting that the child was very young.

The connection between the shooter and the victims is also not yet known.

“We don’t know the family connections yet,” Sierra told WTVJ. “The homicide squad is on the scene. They are investigating.”
