Houtzdale man charged with sexually abusing girl in 2013 – GantNews.com

MORRIS TOWNSHIP – A Houtzdale man is accused of allegedly sexually abusing an 8-year-old girl in 2013.

Vincent Emery Spencer, 46, is charged by Clearfield State Police with aggravated sexual assault (two counts), unlawful contact with a minor or sexual abuse of a child (two counts), aggravated sexual assault without consent (two counts), and related offenses.

According to the probable cause affidavit, a police officer was assigned to the ChildLine investigation on August 11, 2022, and a forensic interview was conducted at the Clearfield County Child Advocacy Center on August 16, 2022.

The first assault occurred at a home in Morris Township when Spencer “suddenly and violently” entered the bathroom, reportedly grabbed the victim and “pushed” her against the wall.

She was “scared and didn’t know what to do,” the victim told investigators. She was unable to defend herself against him and there was no one there to help her.

She said Spencer began touching her inappropriately and, even though she was crying, he didn’t stop. When the assault finally ended, he stepped back and blocked the bathroom door, she said.

Spencer reportedly didn’t let her go anywhere until she was “clean.”

Another time, he forced her onto a bed and allegedly abused her while covering her mouth so she wouldn’t say anything. He then took away her clothes and threw them away with the trash.

The victim was asked if she had been abused by Spencer on other occasions. She mentioned the two assaults and said she did not want to talk about any other occasions.

Spencer was interviewed twice by state police investigators.

During the first interview on February 20, 2023, Spencer denied ever sexually abusing the victim.

During the second interview on March 6, 2023, he admitted to struggling with drug and alcohol addiction, but continued to deny that anything inappropriate had happened to the victim.

He went on to say that if anything had happened, he could not remember it, and when asked if he might have been drunk at the time of the attacks, he tried to claim that he had not started drinking that much at that time.

Spencer admitted that it was possible that something had happened, but he wasn’t sure how. And if it had happened, it must have been while he was taking painkillers, which could have caused him to faint.

He claimed, “It wasn’t me,” and repeatedly said he didn’t remember it happening, but if he did, it must have been while he was taking Oxycontin.

When Spencer was asked about the odds, he reportedly said “50/50.”

A tentative hearing date has not yet been set, and online court documents list Spencer’s case as inactive.
