Epstein victim sues psychiatrist Henry Jarecki for alleged rape and human trafficking

A woman filed a lawsuit against psychiatrist Henry Jarecki in Manhattan federal court on Monday over alleged rape and human trafficking, NBC News reported.

The woman who claims she was sexually abused by Jeffrey Epstein has filed a lawsuit against renowned psychiatrist, entrepreneur and commodities trader Henry Jarecki, according to NBC News. The lawsuit accuses 91-year-old Jarecki of rape and sex trafficking after Epstein sent her to Jarecki for psychiatric treatment.

The plaintiff, identified as “Jane Doe 11,” claims that Jarecki was a close confidante of Epstein, who committed suicide in a New York City jail in 2019. Epstein allegedly sent other young women to Jarecki for confidential “treatment” to distract from Epstein’s own sexual abuse activities, the outlet reported. The lawsuit alleges that Jarecki knew Epstein controlled the women and enabled their abuse without fear of being reported. It details that Jarecki “repeatedly raped” Jane Doe 11 from 2011 to December 2014, taking testosterone pills to increase his sex drive, according to NBC News. The lawsuit also alleges he invited other men to perform sexual acts with her in his presence.

Jarecki’s lawyer, Sarita Kedia, denied the allegations in a statement to CNBC.

“The allegations will be proven to be completely false and baseless. Dr. Jarecki has never behaved in an offensive manner toward the plaintiff or any other person,” Kedia told CNBC.

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages for sexual assault, sex trafficking and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Brad Edwards, one of the plaintiff’s lawyers, praised his client’s courage.

“This is an important lawsuit from a brave young woman who we are honored to represent,” Edwards told CNBC. “We hope her courage encourages others to feel safe speaking out.”

Jarecki, an associate professor at Yale University School of Medicine and winner of the Pardes Humanitarian Prize in Mental Health, is co-author of “Modern Psychiatric Treatment,” according to NBC News. He rose to fame in the 1980s as the “dean of the American gold market” and later co-founded Moviefone, which AOL bought for nearly $390 million in 1999.
