Person dead after being shot in the neck in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — One person is dead after being shot in the neck in Chesterfield County Friday night.

On Friday, May 31, at approximately 9:33 p.m., officers with the Chesterfield County Police Department responded to the 1600 block of Bellwood Road after a 911 caller reported a person shot.

The victim, whose age and gender the police have not yet disclosed, died as a result of his injuries.

According to a department spokesman, no suspect has been identified yet, but police do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community.

Police are still investigating this shooting. No further information is available at this time.
