Odessa man killed in fire accident in Midland

MIDLAND COUNTY, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a Sunday morning crash that left one person dead and another injured.

According to an accident report, at approximately 2:04 a.m. on May 26, police responded to the area of ​​County Road 1210 and County Road 173 to investigate a rollover accident. At the scene, police found a Buick Lucerne engulfed in flames.


Investigators said the driver of the Buick, identified as 31-year-old Sabrina Ann Thompson of Andrews, was traveling westbound on CR-173 when she failed to maintain a lane on a curve before the intersection with CR-1210, causing the vehicle to leave the road. The Buick rolled several times and struck a utility pole on the west side of CR-1210, after which the vehicle burst into flames.

Thompson suffered minor injuries and was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital for treatment. However, the passenger, identified as 27-year-old Dylan Marcus Bellesheim of Odessa, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by the Midland County Death Investigator; he was not wearing a seatbelt.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
