Jefferson man arrested over alleged May incident | Raccoon Valley Radio

Jeremy Andrews

A Jefferson man was arrested for an alleged incident at the Wild Rose Casino.

According to court documents, Jeremy Andrews, 36, won a $1,263 jackpot on a slot machine around 11:25 p.m. on May 5. Andrews left the machine and spoke to Jason Whittrock, who attempted to claim the winnings. Whittrock also filled out paperwork, including a form confirming he was the winner under oath.

After reviewing video surveillance footage, the Criminal Investigation Officer assigned to the casino confirmed these actions. Andrews’ information was reviewed through the Iowa Department of Administrative Services’ offset program and it was determined that he owed $15,000 in offset payments.

Andrews was charged with a Class D misdemeanor for gambling avoidance and a Class D misdemeanor for third-degree fraudulent practices. He was arrested and booked into the Greene County Jail, where he was required to post $5,000 cash or surety bail. However, court documents show he was released after paying 10 percent of the bail amount. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
