Man arrested for drunk driving after three-car crash

Riverside police arrested a man for drunken driving on April 27 after his car crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with two other vehicles.

According to police, officers were dispatched to Harlem Avenue, south of the BNSF train tracks and north of East Quincy Street, around 10:45 p.m. for a report of the accident. In two of the cars involved only the drivers were sitting, in the third there was a driver and two children. The paramedics who arrived on scene examined all five people; No injuries were reported and everyone signed a refusal of medical attention.

Police said the driver, who had children in her car, told them she was driving south on Harlem Avenue and was crossing the railroad tracks when she saw a northbound car crossing the double yellow lines crossed to get into her lane before colliding head-on with her car. Then another southbound car struck her car from behind. The driver of that car said he saw the northbound car hit the other car head-on, but was unable to stop his car before it hit the other car from behind.
