Weather across the region will be hot and humid again Monday with temperatures in the mid to upper 80s. Showers and thunderstorms are possible after 3 p.m. Monday, as the threat of severe thunderstorms is expected to increase later during the day. The enhanced risk outlook extends from areas of northern Harris County to west Houston and the Katy area. Houston-area cities that have recently been overwhelmed by severe storms and river flooding are once again near the line of storms that will pass through Monday.

More than 200 people and 150 pets were rescued from floodwaters that swept through Trinity, Polk and North Harris counties earlier this month. State and local leaders are still urging residents to report any damage to their homes or businesses during flooding.

The risk of damaging wind, hail and a few possible tornadoes isn’t expected to last too long Monday as the line of storms is expected to move quickly through the region, according to Space City Weather, but some areas could see street flooding and up to ‘to three inches of rain Monday evening. Rain showers could continue to persist for a few hours after Monday’s storms begin.
