City of Houston Call for Water: May 11, 2024, 8:00 p.m.

CONROE, Texas — The City of Houston has asked the San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA) to divert water from Lake Conroe to deliver it to Lake Houston via the West Fork of the San Jacinto River. As a result, SJRA is currently releasing 660 cubic feet per second (cfs) from the dam pursuant to the SJRA permit and the Texas Water Rights Commission on Water Quality’s joint permit for Lake Conroe from the city ​​of Houston.

The City of Houston and SJRA own water rights on Lake Conroe. The city of Houston owns 2/3 of it and the SJRA owns the remaining third.
