Woman killed in accident after vehicle hits concrete footing; Charges pending against male driver

A woman is dead after an accident involving a vehicle she was in.

Officials said they were called to a single-vehicle accident at the intersection of Veterans Drive and Main Street in Follansbee, WV, where the vehicle, traveling north on Main Street, left the roadway and struck a concrete footing, which supported a metal electricity pole.

According to officers, the female passenger was unconscious upon arrival and the male driver was conscious and alert.

The passenger was transported to Weirton Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

The male driver was transported to Weirton Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries and released.

Officials say charges are pending after the investigation is complete.

The crash occurred at 1:47 a.m. on May 3rd.

Follansbee police and firefighters and Brooke EMS responded to the scene.
