One dead after house fire in Buffalo Grove

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — One person is dead following a house fire Monday morning in the 600 block of Woodhollow Lane. The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the release of his identity is pending a review by the Lake County coroner.

According to the Village of Buffalo Grove, firefighters arrived at the scene of the fire in a garage attached to the two-story home five minutes after a call came in at 10:22 a.m. Authorities said heavy flames in the garage were spreading to the home and there were reports of a missing person.

Firefighters began an “aggressive” interior attack on the fire with water hoses in the garage and house, while continuing to search for any trapped occupants. During the search, they located the deceased.

Authorities said the fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes. The Buffalo Grove Fire Department is investigating the incident in conjunction with the Illinois State Fire Marshal.

The BGFD was assisted by fire departments from Arlington Heights, Lincolnshire, Lindenhurst, Lake Forest, Long Grove, Wheeling, Prospect Heights, Glenview, Wauconda and Rolling Meadows, as well as Buffalo Grove police and the public works department.
