SPD makes arrest in connection with shooting in June 2024

On 19 JulythIn 2024, a joint effort by several special units within the SPD and with the assistance of the SCSO resulted in the arrest of a male suspect in connection with a shooting that occurred last month in the Holy Names Court area.

The incident began in a parking lot near Holy Names Court in North Spokane when an altercation occurred between several people in a parked vehicle. A male passenger exited the vehicle, pulled out a firearm and fired several shots into the parked/occupied vehicle. One of the occupants was struck by the gunfire. The vehicle left the location to drive to a nearby hospital when it was stopped by police. Police responded quickly to the incident and the tireless efforts of officers and detectives resulted in information that led to the identification of the suspect.

On 19 JulythSPD received information on a possible location of the shooting suspect and multiple special units responded to locate and arrest the man. A vehicle containing the man was located in the area of ​​Northwest Boulevard and Alberta Street. The vehicle was safely stopped and the shooting suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The man (17) was charged with 3 counts of 1st Serious bodily harm with a firearm and one count of 1st He is found guilty of illegal possession of a firearm and is currently being held at the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center.

Thanks to the incredible efforts of the following units, this exceptionally violent suspect was safely taken into custody:

  • Violent Crime Task Force (VCTF)
  • Special Investigation Unit (SIU)
  • SPD SWAT
  • Spokane Regional Air Support Unit (SRASU/Air-1)

The vehicle occupant hit by the gunfire was treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
