Man dies in garbage collection accident in southwest Nebraska

LINCOLN, Nebraska (KLKN) – A McCook city employee was killed in a traffic accident Thursday morning.

Shortly before 8 a.m., a semi-trailer carrying garbage crashed in Hitchcock County, the city said.

The driver, Wayne Cook, was pronounced dead.

He was on his way to a landfill near Ogallala, the city said.

The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating the accident.
