7 passengers on a day care bus taken to hospital after accident in East Orange

Following an accident in East Orange, seven people were taken to the hospital from a day care bus on Thursday afternoon.

According to police, the accident happened just before 1 p.m. in the 100 block of Evergreen Place. They say the Birchwood Adult Day Care Center bus’s brakes failed while turning and it struck a parked car and a tree.

Seven bus passengers were taken to Rutgers University Hospital for treatment of various injuries, including a possible broken leg.

According to police, the driver of the bus and a person in the parked car were not seriously injured.
