Omaha man arrested for stealing tools from construction site

OMAHA, Nebraska (WOWT) – An Omaha man was arrested for stealing more than $5,000 worth of tools from a construction site.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrested Natanael Topete-Perez on Thursday on a search warrant. That warrant was issued after a construction site was discovered on 211th Street and Ellison sent a theft report to DCSO when they discovered her trailer had been broken into.

Using DCSO license plate readers in the area, DCSO investigators executed a search warrant on a residence on the corner of 20th and Castelar Streets. During the search, investigators found over 100 tools valued at over $20,000.

Topete-Perez was released on bail under the supervision of the Douglas County Department of Corrections at the time of the current theft.

DCSO is currently working to identify victims in order to return the tools to their rightful owners.
